This is the 1st Barbary single cutaway I made. Scale Length: 35" Weight: 11lbs. Neck: 5-piece maple set neck w/ wenge veneers Fingerboard: Paduak with maple fretlines and mother of pearl markers, high gloss epoxy coat Body: Curly maple top w/ wenge veneer over an ash body Hardware: Hipshot ultralight tuners and an ABM bridge (16mm spacing) Electronics: Seymour Duncan Basslines ASB-3ASB / 3-band STC active pickup & pre-amp for 6-string fretless Neat bits: The inlay between the pickups was supposed to be a "manaia" but ended up looking more like a seal...seals are cool too; mop, red abalone, mother of pearl, gold mother of pearl and paua. This is the prototype for the set-necks I'm building now. Scale Length: 35" Weight: 10lbs. Neck: 3 piece maple Fretboard: Goncalo alves, paua markers Body: White ash with a quilted maple top and wenge veneer Hardware: Hipshot ultralight tuners and an ETS tuning fork bridge Electronics: Seymour Duncan Basslines ASB-6 active phase I pickups and a STC-3/ 3-band preamp Neat bits: The inlay at the neck joint is a "tomoe" cut from paua abalone heart and the inlay between the pickups is the kanji character for music cut from black mother of pearl. Neck: 3 piece maple and wenge Fretboard: Wenge w/ paua markers Body: Mahogany with a shedua top Hardware: Hipshot ultralight tuners and an ABM Piezo bridge (18mm) Electronics: Seymour Duncan Basslines ASB-5 active phase I pickups and a STC-3/ 3-band preamp Neat bits: The inlay on the upper bout is an idea i got from looking at tribal tattoo art. It's Mother of pearl and a wee bit of turquoise. This is the first bass with the bass clef inlay under the bridge which i have made standard now. BLDesign.us waterslide decal on neck joint.
